Rustycon is the first Science Fiction and Fantasy convention of the New Year in the greater Seattle area.

Rustycon has a focus on literature, science, art, costumes, and gaming. After dark, we become what might be called a relax-a-con and many fen (fans) can be found enjoying the various parties and night time events. We would love you to join us as we explore the alternate worlds of the human imagination.

A HUGE thank you to our attendants, volunteers, panelists, and guests of honor!

Rustycon just keeps getting better!

Highlights

**Charity Auction
It’s been awhile since we did a charity auction but this year we felt that we had a worthwhile cause to support.  We hope that you will bring your donations and your money to help out Jeanne Robinson, Spider Robinson’s wife.  Spider was a past GOH and we enjoyed many years of their attending Rustycon.  Jeanne suffered this year from a rare and virulent form of biliary cancer.  They have many expenses in the effort to keep Jeanne alive, chemotherapy, prescription drugs, special therapies and supplements, counseling, and extensive diet and lifestyle changes.  These are all very expensive things and we know you all want to help us help them out!!  For information on the auction, or how you can donate please drop a mail to our Vice Chair, Bobbie DuFault, you can reach her from our Rustycon Staff page.

**Costumers Garage Sale

This hasn't been done for many years. For 3 hours on Sunday from 11-2pm, any costumers (or being with costumes to sell) who wants to participate can bring their ALREADY PRICED, no longer wanted costumes, trim, fabric, accessories, etc. to sell. It benefits the costumer (pin money and more room) and convention folks. All buyers are welcome.  NOTE:  The costumers wishing to sell will have a couple of hours before hand to set up.

** Easy Quilt As You Go

Quilting is art; it can also be used in costuming as well as to keep one warm on that steam-powered trip to the moon and back. This is a hands on panel-class that shows how to make a quick quilt from scraps a block at a time.  NOTE: bring a sewing machine if you can, dark threads and I am sure material would be welcome.  Workshop size is limited.

**MOVIES AND PREVIEWS

Two Movies being previewed by their creators PLUS our normal MOVIE PREVIEWS with goodies!!

***** Programming

Now this year I am even more excited than other years about our Science programming.  We have an exclusive look for you at some information, slides, and maybe “stuff” never before shown at a convention.  This is material that our panelist got special permission to bring and show US!!  Art Bozlee we LOVE YOU!!  True story here- this man is going to space and not only will we find all about how that happened but also he will share a lot of proprietary information with us on the technology.
